Riding Pants

Though riding pants were designed for and are still sold for the purpose of being worn while riding horses, they’ve actually made a bit of a fashion statement in the non-riding world as well. Also known as breeches, these types of pants generally sit comfortably right above the hips or at the waist, have a relaxed and comfortable fit with a little extra room in the thighs, and taper at the leg to fit easily inside of riding boots. These pants were originally designed for those who ride horses English style, which is why you’re not going to see them at a rodeo. Outside the horse riding arena, women and girls will often wear some form of breeches just for the fun of it.

Though riding pants are often worn for fun instead of function, you still aren’t going to find a lot of them in regular department stores or clothing stores. Sometimes you’ll find them in these places, but you can’t really count on it. They haven’t made enough of a splash in the general fashion world. Pikeur Rodrigo makes knee patch riding breeches for men that have angled front pockets and Velcro leg closures. These are high-end pants made in Germany, and they sell for around $350.

Since riding pants may not be quite as easy to find as other kind of apparel, it can be a good idea to look online for what you want.
